Top 10 Elements to Promoting Your Bar’s Social Media Sites
Now that you have a business plan behind your social media marketing, how do you plan on getting the word out? Yeah, Yeah…. I hear you…. I will just start telling everyone. Glad to hear you have taken the initiative to promote your business, but why work twice as hard when you can utilize your current promotions to help build your following. Let social media work for you.
Here is a starter list of promotional elements you want to put in place to help build your following and get the word out:
- Email signature: You probably already place your blog or website URL and contact information in your email signature, so why not add your Twitter and Facebook handle? It’s free promotion and every email you send can turn into a new follower.
- Personal/corporate website: If you already have a website for you and/or your company, then you have a platform on which you can promote your Twitter and Facebook address to people who will probably be interested in following you.
- Blog homepage + posts: Your blog is a great place to promote your Twitter and Facebook account because most people who read blogs know what Twitter is. You should take a two pronged approach. First, put your profile addresses in one of your sidebars and second, promote it discretely in posts every once in a while.
- Email newsletter: If you have an email newsletter, you can write about Twitter or Facebook and link to your profile or put it at the bottom of your template, so that each email has a link to your account.
- Presentations: Do you do any public speaking? Why not include your Twitter account on the last slide of your presentation and tell people that they can follow you on Twitter?
- Business Card: Include all your social profile sites on your business card, including Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and even YouTube
- Promotional products: Some people take Twitter and Facebook promotions to the next level by placing Twitter Profiles on T-Shits, menus, welcome banners, guest checks, receipts, table tents, thank you cards and more. Where can you post your profile site? How creative can you get?
- Employee Promotion: Utilizing each employees social profile network can help build more of a buzz and traffic to your fan page. Make it mandatory that each employee comments or posts on the fan page once a week or more.
- Vendor Partners: Work direct with your current vendors or partners to have your business promoted on their sites. They have the ability to not only post on your page but create links and place page suggestions right on their fan page.
- Check / Receipt Print Outs: If you are using Aloha or a simple written customer check system, make sure to add your social profiles to all your checks and receipts. You can even include a small promotional card to let your customers know that you would like to “Hear their Voice” and to join in on the conversation on your profile networks. Keep them up to date on new events, menu items, coupons and deals.
These are some simple steps, but I would be lying if this was my full list. Want to learn even more on how to promote your sites, give me a call direct. Would be honored to review your business’s complete social media strategy for FREE!
