Bar Promotions Using Twitter – Part 2 of 2

Part #2:  Tweeting Your Event to Build Relations

Wondering how to bring in customers, keep them there and get them coming back for more?  We discussed in Part 1 on how to create Hashtags for your events to help promote and categorize your event discussion.  This part we explore how to communicate with your customers before, during and after your promotional event.

Before Event

Before the event, you should be taking all necessary steps to get the word out, especially through your current follower base.  Tweeting about your event once a day to keep followers up to date on event details, times and theme are important to start creating that buzz around the event.  Using the power of conversation between your current followers will then start to attract additional followers, which in turn would create more attendees.

Make sure you are promoting your Twitter account through all mediums to help increase your following, which includes links to your Twitter account in all your emails, on your website and posted on your Facebook fan page.  You should also be placing all Twitter account mentions on your menus, event fliers and handouts to help drive and increase your Twitter fan base.  Make sure the event has a deal or special available for Twitter followers to help create additional incentives to attend your event.

During Event

Your strategy during your promotion should include last minute promotion to gain followers, but its more of a Real-Time, play by play of the event.  Greeting Twitter followers upon arrival, event interaction, even posting the Twitter Fall on a screen at the event will show the vibe around the event and how others are responding.

Also, to gain additional information of who is at the event, have a sign-in for followers to write down their Twitter Name to obtain the deal that was posted.  This way you can use those names during the event to show additional B2C interaction.  Its very important to engage with the clientele as much as possible through not just Tweets…but a solid hand shake.  Even though Twitter is the reason they are there, don’t miss out on the additional opportunity to build a solid face-to-face relationship with your customers.

After Event

This part of the event is what I find to be the most critical.  Of course, you want to tweet a recap of the event and its success but the “Thank You” is the key.  Since you gained a list of followers that attended your event, you can now use that list to send out a “Thank You” to those followers for attending your event and a special discount or promo for the next time they patronize your business.  This builds a powerful relationship between your business and your customer.   Especially in the bar, club and restaurant industry, solid relationships turn into long term customers.

As you know, there is much that goes into overseeing, setting up and executing an event or promo using Twitter.  If you enjoyed this article and would like to learn more on how Social Media Beast can help assist your next event, please contact me direct at mjohnson@conciergepreferred.com or call us direct at 312-360-1770.
